I supposed I'm glad to know s/he has an appropriate appreciation of the history of medicine, but still.

Trepanning is exactly what that is. We weren't sure if the painting said what the doctors wanted it to say. Yeah, it's neurosurgery, sort of, but... how far have we really come from just cutting holes in people's heads?

When I first saw this print, I was reminded of Taylor Caldwell and Dear and Glorious Physician. I am almost positive it was the procedure described in the novel.
