Surgery Successful

Don is home from foot surgery and resting comfortably.

In outpatient surgery at St. Agnes Hospital, Dr. Giradina took out all the infected bone and cleaned up infected tissue, and stitched everything up.

Don lost most, if not all, of his great toe on the right foot. Besides expecting a little difficulty wearing flip-flops, there should be little lasting impact.

We are all hoping that this is the end of the infected foot. After 2-3 weeks of recovery, Don hopes to be back to his (ab)normal life.

Further bulletins as events warrant.

Don't worry, there have been lots of other famous four toed people.

Fred Flintstone. Homer Simpson. So this is how four toed animated characters got started? Hmmmmm.

And don't forget Thomas Love Peacock and his four toed character.

The statue seen on LOST of course. Now we have a new theory. Time shift and we have a sculptor make a model of Don in a toga. (with his four toes....) Time shifts back and we see Jin, Sun and Desmond seeing the sculpture as they sail by.

Remember also it could be worse. There are tribes in Africa who have a didactylous foot, they only have two toes on each foot. It does not seem to disturb their ability to grow nor obtain food, nor reach reproductive age. It is a recessive trait that a single mutated gene present in the populations of the Wadomo tribe of Zimbabwe, and the Kalanga Tribe of Botswana.

And now having four toes means you can wear those sharp Italian shoes and look really cool. Supersly Don!

Okay enough babbling, glad to hear that you are doing well and we will keep you in our thoughts.
